Shop Talk (SWTOR – Aayahpoy’shiri and Neikei Sarkanias)

Poy’s face scrunched in concentration, the body of the wry, lithe Twi’lek stretched akimbo. One foot was pressed against the center console of the Vatak’ultuka’s cockpit; toes spread out and glinting with that wet sheen of nail polish. Her other foot was shoved up against the front console, she was bent over herself to paint her toenails.

The comm beeped.

“What do you hear, chi’aki?” She answered, a mischievious grin tugging at her lips.

“How do you do that?” The hoarse voice of Niki Sark responded.

“Do what? Know the perverse Iridonian on the other end?”

“Yes. Know who the fuck you’re talking to.”

“I look at the frequency.” She shrugged and leaned back in her chair as she capped the bottle of polish.

“No you don’t, I’ve seen you. You don’t look at that console at all.”

“You’re blind then.”

The Zabrak woman chuckled. “I am getting old.”

“See, there you go.”

“What are you doing?”

“Did you comm me to see what I’m doing?”

“Do you have a job for me?”

“No.” Her voice was deadpan.

“What the… I just painted my toenails and I’m enjoying a moment of peace before I hear the words, ‘Poypoy’ again.”

“Co-pilot driving you insane already?”

“Goddess, I keep trying to find where she keeps the spice. I think she might just be like this naturally. It’s this odd mixture of refreshing and annoying.” Poy pulled her goggles down over her eyes and sway her head to a beat that was playing in her head.

“Is she useful?”

“Were you really painting your toenails?”

“Stop being a girl and get some work. There’s a war.”

“What are you doing?”

“Smoking a cigar and speaking with you.”

“Stop being a dyke and get some work. There’s a war.”

Poy laughed when the transmission ended. The Smuggler hopped up out of her chair and wandered through the corridors of the Vatak’ultuka to watch the last of the crates of medical supplies be loaded into the cargo hold. “There is a war.” She whispered to herself.
